Paul Bestul is an architect at Bray, currently working on Schulte Elementary School (Racine Unified School District) project. He’s involved in all phases of a project: schematic-level design, programming, space planning, and client meetings through construction documents.
Over the past year, Paul’s passion for designing schools that have made a positive impact on students and the community continues to grow. “We’re designing schools for students who spend five out of seven days a week there, I want to make it a safe, comfortable, and an inspiring space for them,” he says. One of the rewarding aspects of being an architect for Paul is seeing the excitement on clients faces when designs are presented and/or the project is complete. “Clients who are excited about the design of their school and can’t wait to see the final product make the project even better.”
His passion for design can be traced directly back to his own experiences in high school. His decision to pursue a career in architecture occurred on a study abroad trip to Europe during his junior year. “After seeing all the beautiful buildings in that region, I remember thinking to myself, if they can design these, I can, too.”
Outside of work, Paul enjoys helping his wife raise their one-year-old daughter, going to concerts and is a part of the Milwaukee Hurling Club (and welcomes anyone to join!).
