Michael Spector is an architect at Bray currently working on the Black River Falls, Beyond Vision, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and Neenah projects.
After high school, Michael was sure he would become an engineer, because he loved almost every subject in school. When it came time to think about college courses, he followed his high school counselor’s advice to enroll in the architecture program at the University of Illinois.
It turned out to be the right choice. “After a year of architecture coursework, I thought, engineering doesn’t have the art, at least it didn’t then, so I stuck with architecture, and I’m glad I did!”
Michael’s admiration for engineering hasn’t left him, though. Santiago Calatrava continues to be an important influence for his ability to elegantly integrate engineering and architecture in his designs.
Michael is also inspired by quality and excellence. He is an avowed perfectionist, and he always wants his work to be as good as possible. “That’s one of the nice things about working at Bray,” he said. “There is a lot of attention to quality here.”
When he’s not in the office, Michael stays busy working on his house and spending time with his family and two dogs.
