The new Cristo Rey Jesuit High School campus is more than double the size of their previous space, allowing for more academic, athletic, and co-curricular programming, including fine arts, performing arts and music. The new building increases the school’s capacity from 400 to 500 students. The Clarke Square neighborhood is more centrally located for many students, while remaining close to the growing number of corporate partners in its work-study program.
Cristo Rey Mission
The mission of Cristo Rey centers around the Jesuit value of Cura Personalis, “care for the whole person.” As a response to this mission, the building is organized into three parts relating to the mind, body, and spirit of an individual: classrooms (the “mind”) are located in the academic wing at the west end of the building; the school’s athletic facilities (the “body”) are in the building’s southern wing; and the center of building (the “spirit”) houses the main entrance, chapel, commons, learning stair, and media center.
