Oostburg High School
We guided the Oostburg School District through the expansion and renovation of their high school after helping them pass a second referendum in six years.
Need: Update and expand the aging gymnasium, auditorium, library, and cafeteria
Solution: Build a gymnasium addition to the existing high school, which provides room to expand the other spaces
Result: A large, three-station gymnasium, a new auditorium in place of the former gym, a larger library to replace the former theater, and an expanded cafeteria

Project Features
We’re proud of our longstanding relationship with the Oostburg School District, one that started in the early 1960s when we helped them build the first high school building. Since then, we’ve guided the district through multiple expansions to the building. This latest round of work included:
- A new gymnasium that includes a fitness center, lobby, locker rooms, concessions, and a classroom
- A new auditorium in the former gym that features a large stage, shallow orchestra pit, and stadium-style seating
- Extensive renovation work that yielded a like-new library, an improved cafeteria, a school store, expanded offices, and an improved building entry to enhance safety and security
Passing the Referendum
As responsible stewards of our client’s resources, we helped the Oostburg School District develop a plan to repurpose as many existing spaces as possible, rather than pursuing new construction.
This approach reduced the proposed project cost by millions of dollars and led to a successful referendum that passed with over 60% support.
Oostburg Elementary School
Prior to the high school project, we worked with the district on expansions to their elementary school building that would allow for more efficient operations.
